ABSTRACT

  

Design and construction of pressure testing rig are performed to test the hydrostatic pressure of PET bottles of particular sizes of 1 liter and 1/2 liter. PET bottles are excellent barrier materials and are widely used for soft drinks  and also for transmitting it from one place to another at high pressure. As a result most important or vital property of PET Bottle which has to be tested is its resistance to internal pressure developed by the form of carbon-dioxides. The main problem in the test is to seal the open end of the bottle with adapter. The hydraulic jack is used in our project as a pump. The goal of the present work is to study the pressure withstanding capacity of PET bottles and picked up the circumferential stress. It is determined by the rupture pressure of PET bottles.
