UTILIZATION OF SOLAR ENERGY FOR WATER PUMPING


  ABSTRACT 

Many works have been carried out on this topic. In those works, the pump was used, and depending upon the power, demanded by the pump, a solar panel was used and then various characteristics were found out. The pump and solar panel were large in size. But this work deals with miniature pump and small solar panel, which stands for and can be used as a model one. This project primarily may be divided into two sections. At first a small centrifugal pump was designed on the basis of a low wattage solar panel, then it was characterized with the solar panel as well as the storage device, in this study lead acid cell is used. Thus it could be represented as a model pump. The characteristics of the pump was designed on the basis of solar panel power out put was observed and the characteristics curves were drawn.. In brief it may be said that this works deals with the characteristics of each of element in a solar photovoltaic water pump, i.e. it focuses on volume flow rate, head of water, hydraulic efficiency of the system, centrifugal pump operation analysis, its variation as a function of pumped rate flow and the rotational velocity. The rate of volume flow and the head of water were also observed as a function of rotation, at different day hours.
