DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, MODIFICATION AND PERFORMANCE TEST OF A CENTRIFUGAL CASTING MACHINE FOR CYLINDER LINER AND JOURNAL BEARING
ABSTRACT
This report presents a brief overview about the design, construction, modification and performance test of the centrifugal casting machine. To keep us aware of current developments in the field of casting techniques, it offers timely coverage of important topics, including various casting processes and intensify on the centrifugal casting process, design and construction. It tries to identify the suitable materials for using in centrifugal casting machine and Cylinder Liner and Journal Bearing. Moreover it’s calculated about required speed, centrifugal forces, torque and required power and also compared with supplied power of the motor for making desired shapes. A sample of a Cylinder Liner and a Journal Bearing were casted by Aluminum by the constructed centrifugal casting machine. The casted liner and the bearing are found within desired satisfaction. The quality can be improved further.
It has been tried to find out a little simpler arrangement for true centrifugal casting and to save cost as much as possible. It has also been tried to keep flexibility in the centrifugal casting machine which will make it easy to operate.
