Study of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and Direct Numerical Control (DNC) machining process and preparing a job with a CNC milling machine
CNC (Computer Numerical Control) and DNC (Direct Numerical Control) have brought a tremendous revolution in modern machining process. DNC and DCN (Direct CNC Networking) are now being implemented by most of the large industries to ensure high level of accuracy, easy and safe data flow and system integrity. The general concepts and important components of CNC, DNC and DCN are studied. The programming codes (G code & M code) are studied. A model crank is designed with the CAD/CAM software of Denford CNC milling machine. A program is developed to perform the required operations and a model crank is produced with the Denford CNC milling machine. Due to the machine’s limitation, wood is used as the material and a small model is produced.
