ABSTRACT

Nowadays many types of design & modification have been done to the engines to improve its efficiency, capacity & to reduce the input energy of the engine. Reduction of input energy is one of the main objectives for these design & modifications. Here a four stroke petrol engine has been converted to compressed air engine. Some modification has been made to the petrol engine to convert it as a compressed air engine. As no fuel is used in compressed air engine, so carburetor system of the petrol engine has been omitted. The cam shaft lobe shape has been changed from oval shape to eye shape as a part of modification. It has been observed that, the performance parameter of the compressed air engine is almost similar if compared with the performance parameter of a standard petrol engine. A good efficiency has also been obtained. With some further improvement, this compressed air engine can be used globally. The use of this type of engine will reduce vehicles running cost. The exhaust of this compressed air engine is nothing but fresh breathable air. So use of this compressed air engine will reduce Global Warming.
