NUMERICAL MODELING OF FLUID FLOW THROUGHA PIPE BY MAC ALGORITHM
ABSTRACT
A numerical investigation has been carried out for a laminar incompressible flow through a circular pipe. The model is based on the numerical solution of conservation equations of mass and momentum. Marker and Cell (MAC) algorithm is used for numerical modeling. The numerical results for the fully developed region are found to be in excellent agreement with the analytical solution. From numerical results, it is observed that the entrance length increases linearly with the increase of Reynolds number, the velocity profile is found to be improved towards the fully developed region from the entrance and finally it becomes parabolic shape in the fully developed region.
